Lauren Philbrook '09

The Ephs traveled south to compete in the Fordham Fiasco Cross Country Meet at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, barely out-racing tropical storm Hanna before it hit the area.

The Ephs tied for 3rd overall in the 5k race, which was made up of twenty Division I, II, and III teams. Leading the way for the team was senior captain, Lauren Philbrook, who finished in 6th place with a solid time of 19:14 over the 3.1 mile hilly terrain.

First year Shelby Golan, from Campbell, CA crossed the line second for the Ephs, starting her Williams career off in stellar form. Junior Bret Scofield has battled a back injury over the summer but overcame it today to just squeeze under the 20-minute mark. Senior Robin Kuntz is back in action, finishing 4th, after studying abroad in Italy last season.

Navy won the women’s race by a large margin, scoring 26 points, followed by Quinnipiac with 79 points. Williams and Saint Joseph's both scored 107 point, tying for 3rd.

A second group of women competed in St. Rose's Golden Knights XC Joust, where Williams (71 points) finished a close 2nd behind RPI (70 points). Completing the 3 mile course first for the Ephs was Junior Jess Clarke, who placed 6th overall in a time of 19:26.

The harriers look forward to the fun tradition of the Co-Ed Relays at Middlebury College next weekend, where they will compete as male and female relay partners.
