Ballon-Landa, Anderson named All-New England, Honorable Mention All-America by AVCA


WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — Williams College sophomores Kate Anderson (opposite) and Nicole Ballon-Landa (middle blocker) have been selected All-New England by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

The pair was also dubbed Honorable Mention All-America by the organization.

Anderson (Berlin, MA) and Ballon-Landa (La Jolla, CA) are 1-2 in kills for the Ephs with 447 and 420, respectively. They are 2-3 in total blocks, respectively, with 99 and 93. Anderson was sixth in the conference in kills per set with 3.10 is eighth with 2.76. Anderson was eighth in the NESCAC with a .276 hitting percentage.

Ballon-Landa, who was the 2007 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, has 25 service aces while Anderson has 17. Anderson has 104 digs on the season, Ballon-Landa 65.

The Ephs (28-12) are currently on a 12-match win streak as they prepare to face No. 8 Ohio Northern (33-4) in the Elite 8 match of the NCAA Tournament Thursday at 8:30 p.m. CST at Illinois-Wesleyan. 

Williams won its second straight NESCAC championship and last weekend defeated Wellesley to win the Div. III New England Regional championship. Anderson was named MVP of the regional and Ballon-Landa was selected all-regional.
