Women finish second at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA -- The women's track and field team travelled to Springfield on February 4th and finished second overall with 158 points. Springfield won the meet with 175 points and Harford finished third with 154 points. Other teams at the meet included Oneonta, Eastern Connecticut State, Trinity, Stevens Institute, Mount Saint Mary, and Manhattanville.

The Ephs had many high scoring performances in the field. Brooke Johnson '13 won both the triple jump and the long jump, scoring a total of 20 points for the team. She hit a mark of 5.08m (16-08.00) in the long jump and 10.96m (35-11.50) in the triple jump. Julie Paschal '12 competed in the high jump and placed second with a mark of 1.50m (4-11.00). Jenna Adams '14 won the pole vault with a mark of 3.68m (12-00.75). Eileen Becker '13 won the shot put in 12.12m and Amina Avril '14 placed second with a throw of 12.12m. Avril also competed in the weight throw, where she placed second with a mark of 17.35m. Kathryn Evans was next in third with a throw of 13.26m.

In the sprints, Haley Stewart '15 finished second in the 60m dash in a time of 8.07 and Annie Lynch '14 was finished in third. Lynch also ran well in the 200m dash, where she finished fourth with a time of 27.19. Also in the 200m, Ashley Graves '15 finished seventh and Dianna Mejia '15 finished eighth. Maya Harakawa '12, Amanda Murashige '14, Ashley Graves '15, and Dianna Mejia '15 all ran the 400m and placed 5th to 8th respectively. In the 4x200m relay the Williams team of Lynch, Stewart, Graves, and Mejia placed second with a time of 1:47.89. The 4x400m team won with a time of 4:06.17.

In middle distance, Rebecca Fine '13 placed third in the 600m in 1:40.75. Adrienne Strait '15 ran the 800m and placed second in 2:28 for a total of 8 points. In the 1000m, Louisa Lee '14 placed fifth with a time of 3:15.48. In the longer distance events, Elleree Erdos '12 won the event with a time of 10:50.70. In her first race of the season, Marisa Repka '14 placed second in the 5000m with a time of 18:18.38. 

The Ephs next compete on February 10th at Boston University.
