Asst. Coach Keelin Godsey to Compete in USA Track Nationals in Oregon * * *UPDATED *** Places 3rd

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA  -- Williams College volunteer assistant track coach Keelin Godsey will compete this weekend n the USA Track & Field Championships at famed Heyward Field in Eugene, OR.

Godsey, a 2006 Bates graduate, spent the past year at Williams working with the Eph throwers and training under Eph head coach Fletcher Brooks.

At Bates Godsey was a 16-time All-American, 2-time NCAA Champion in the hammer and is the Division III record holder in the hammer with a throw of 206' 5".

Two weeks ago Godsey, currently ranked 8th in the nation, launched her personal record throw of 67.89m (222' 9").

2011 US Nationals - currently ranked 8th in the nation with a PR from two weeks ago of 67.89m (222' 9")

2010 US Nationals - 5th 

2008 US Olympic Trials - 7th

"Keelin placed third with a all-time PR of 68.90 (226'), over three feet further than the throw from two weeks ago, and 10 cm from the World Championship qualifying standard," stated Brooks."We will now be "chasing" the mark. Based off of her third place finish, if Keelin can hit 69.00 meters by August 8, she will be on the US World Team traveling to Daegu, Korea for the 2011 IAAF World Championships being contested from August 27 to September 4.

"Additionally, Keelin will most likely be on the US Team competing in Guadalajara, Mexico for the Pan American Games (taking place every four years, on the year prior to the Olympic Games). The Games are being held from October 24-28."
