Former Eph cross country and track standout Jenn Campbell ‘05 is still competing and excelling while finishing up graduate school at UNH where she is in the Hydrology program within the Earth Sciences Department. Last Sunday Campbell out ran a 2,482 other runners to win the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) 5K race held within the City of Boston.
At Williams Campbell was a 13-time All-American, elected to Phi Beta Kappa, an Academic All-American, won the 2003 NCAA 3,000m steeplechase and was a member of two Eph NCAA Champion cross country teams.
The 5K BAA route went through Copley Square and past several landmarks, including the State House, Boston Common and finished at the finish line of the famed Boston Marathon. Not only did Campbell win in 16:52, but also she chopped 44 seconds off of last year’s winning time in the inaugural event, to claim the record.
Bowdoin alum and former Olympic champion Joan Benoit Samuelson finished seventh in the race.
“I've been fortunate to find a great training partner up here at UNH and have seen my times improve,” stated Campbell. “I ran the New Bedford Half Marathon a month ago in a new PR of 1:17:17.”
“I will be finishing up grad school this May and am excited to move back down to the Boston area and join up with one of the clubs. The racing scene in New England is great. I've been hitting alot of the New England Grand Prix events where the competition is stiff!!”
“Next up for me is the Mount Washington Road race.”
