Caroline Cretti '06 finishes 21st at U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials

BOSTON, MA – Running in only her second marathon and on
the biggest national stage with 160 of the best marathoners in the
country, Caroline Cretti '06 finished 21st in the U.S. Olympic
Marathon Trials on Sunday.
Cretti finished in 2:40.12. Deena Kastor won the race in a time of
2:29.35.
"Craroline ran great, moving up throughout (I counted her 58 at
4 miles, 44 at 10, 32 at 17, and 22 at 23)," said Eph cross country
and track & field coach Peter Farwell. "Big crowd of Williams
alums and current athletes cheered her on along Memorial
Drive."
Cretti's first marathon effort came in October of 2007 on a
brutally hot day in the Twin Cities Marathon (Minneapolis/St. Paul)
where she finished fifth in a time of 2:43.13.
Shortly after graduation Cretti, a 15-time All-American (cross
country and track & field), joined Zap Fitness in Blowing Rock,
NC where she now trains year round.
