Ephs take on the competition at Williams Invitational

Williams Women Dominate the Competition at Williams Invitational
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams women
performed extremely well on a cloudy, cold day at the Williams
Invitational.
In the sprinting events Carrie Plitt took first in the 100 and 200
with times of 12.8 and 25.8 seconds respectively. Shawna McArdle
placed second behind Plitt in both events with a 13.3 and 27.1 for
her times. In the 100 meter high hurdles sophomore Elise Johnson
ran a 15.74 outperforming the rest of the field. The cold
conditions made it difficult for the sprint team to perform but the
Ephs worked through the wintry temperature to perform well. In the
400. Olga Kondratjeva ran in the unseeded heat to win with a time
of 1:00.86 blowing away the competition. Also in the 400 meter
Hurdles, Robin Kuntz ran an impressive 1:07.4.
In the distance events, the Ephs further held their commanding lead with Laura Walls, Lizzie Danhakl and Alysha McElroy sweeping the 800 with times of 2:18.3, 2:18.8 and 2:25.8 respectively.
Plattsburgh took first in the mile but freshmen Sara Wild finished in a close second with a time of 4:48.7. In the 3000 Lauren Philbrook and Mary Feeley took first and second with a 10:28.5 and a 10:45.2. In the 5000 meter run, Olga Kondratjeva came back to win again with an impressive time of 18:34.9. In the 2000 meter Steeple chase the top four finishers were all Williams Ephs led by freshmen Cecilia Davis- Hayes with a time of 7:40.9. Williams then took first in the 4X100 with a time of 48.95, the 4X400 with a time of 4:08.9, and the 4X800 with a time of 9:51.29.
In the field events, Sara turner placed first
in the high jump with a height of 1.45m and second in the long jump
with a distance of 4.63. Freshmen Rachael Teitlebaum placed first
in the pole vault with a height of 3.12 meters and freshmen
Fhatarah Zinnamon debuted and won the triple jump with a distance
of 9.83 meters. Overall the EPhs had a successful meet, the last
Williams Invitational ever on the track, as it will be torn up for
improvement after the conclusion of the season.
