Ephs Perform Well at Dartmouth Invite

The Ephs had a successful day at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic, posting solid performances in many events throughout the day against some tough competition. Senior captain Carrie Plitt had a strong showing in the sprints with a second place finish in the 60 meters and took fourth in the 400.
Sophomore Elise Johnson ran her first collegiate race ever in a stunning time of 9.67 in the 60 meter hurdles qualifying for Division III New England's. Junior Veronica Ivey and sophomore Emily Heaslip each ran fast 500 times after being abroad for winter study. In the 800, senior Laura Walls took third followed by teammates Lissy Robie and Heather Bemis, all in the top eight.
On the distance side of things, sophomore Bret Scofield ran a great time of 10:30.32 in the 3k to qualify for Division III New Englands and placed second. In the 5k freshman Sarah Weber ran for second place in a time of 19:13.
Senior Halley Smith threw the shot for the first time ever in her career at Williams and came in 9th, just missing finals with a throw of 37-00.50. Freshman Rachel Teitlbaum came in 4th for the Ephs in the pole vault with a jump of 10-00.00 feet.
The Ephs finished off the day with standout relays. The 4x200 team of Plitt, Smith, Heaslip and Johnson won with a time 1:48 to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The 4x800 team of Megan Shea, Tina Meade, Nora Mitchell, and Sarah Tory came in second with a smashing time of 10:20 to finish the meet on a good note. "I felt like the team did pretty well for this early in the season," said injured veteran hurdler Katie Dupré, "but we still have a lot of work to do."
