WATERVILLE, ME. – The Williams women’s tennis team always uses a complete team effort in all their matches with contributions from on and off the courts, but this afternoon a season-high eight of the nine Ephs on the women’s roster were able to play on the courts in a 9-0 win over conference opponent Colby (8-7, 3-5).
“It was a fun day,” said Williams head coach Alison Swain. “Almost every person got to play in the lineup which is always a treat, and we all really enjoyed the day.”
The Ephs mixed up the doubles pairs quite a bit, but were incredibly successful. At courts one and three, Williams blew by their Colby competition with 8-0 wins. Taylor French and Veranika Li closed out the sweep with an 8-6 win at court two.
Closing out the singles lineup, Katie Freidman and Veranika Li made their first appearances of the season. Freidman won in her first set in dominating fashion at 6-0, and closed out the win in a 6-2 final set. Li won in quick straight sets at court six.
