The Ephs (18-3, 8-0 NESCAC) have fallen at the hands of Amherst (17-2, 7-1) in the conference title match for the past five years, and the Lord Jeffs added a sixth straight NESCAC title to their record books this afternoon in a 5-0 defeat of a top-ranked and top-seeded Williams squad.

Top-seeded Williams women’s tennis (18-2, 8-0 NESCAC) advanced to the NESCAC tournament finals with a 5-1 defeat of fourth-seeded Middlebury College (13-5, 4-3). Due to inclement weather, the match was moved from Amherst College to an indoor facility at Mount Holyoke College.

Ephs take Little Three title in Wesleyan win
Williams women’s tennis (17-2, 8-0 NESCAC) closed out their regular season with a 9-0 sweep of Wesleyan (10-7, 2-7). With the victory, the Ephs finish their conference record with a perfect 8-0 mark and clinch the Little Three title for the first time since 2008 and the ninth time since 1990. Williams will also play as the number one seed in the upcoming NESCAC tournament.

The Williams women’s tennis team (14-2, 5-0 NESCAC) always uses a complete team effort in all their matches with contributions from on and off the courts, but this afternoon a season-high eight of the nine Ephs on the women’s roster were able to play on the courts in a 9-0 win over conference opponent Colby (8-7, 3-5).

Ephs sweep singles play to overtake Middlebury, 7-2
Williams women’s tennis headed into singles play with a 2-1 deficit for the first time in the spring season, and some early close sets in the singles lineup made the match look as though it could be close to the finish. The Ephs quickly put a damper on any thoughts of an upset win on the part of Middlebury, and ended up sweeping singles play for a decisive win over Panthers, 7-2.

Ephs Conclude Fall Season on High Note
After a strong fall season, which included an individual regional championship in singles, a runner-up finish in doubles, and a 2-1 record in match play, the Ephs concluded their season today with another title in Holyoke. Caroline Capute ’12 and Veranika Li ’13 won a pair of matches to claim the championship of the B-draw at the New England women’s intercollegiate tennis tournament.

Williams regained their winning form today, following a painful loss to archrival Amherst by defeating Wellesley College 9-0. The Ephs started strong, dropping only eight games in three doubles matches and carried that momentum into singles play where Williams won all but one set.

The top two teams in the nation from last season met today in Williamstown. Last May, Williams defeated Amherst in the NCAA finals to take the title. Today, the Lord Jeffs enacted a measure of revenge, beating the Ephs on the road 6-3.

Ephs Survive Wait, Sweep Vassar
The finals of the men’s ITA championship and inclement weather forced the start of the Williams women’s match against Vassar to be delayed nearly three hours. The defending champion Ephs, however, showed few signs of ill effect from the delay, sweeping Vassar 9-0 en route to their sixth consecutive victory, a streak that dates back to last spring.

Alotta Triumphs in Regional Championship; Doubles Falls Just Short
Sophomore Kristin Alotta has arrived on the collegiate tennis scene. After losing only one match last season, playing as the number three player for the Ephs, Alotta has emerged as the preeminent player in the region. Alotta captured the ITA Northeast regional tournament championship today, defeating the defending champion Julia Browne of Tufts 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

Sophomore Kristin Alotta extended her winning streak to 29 matches, notching a pair of victories on the second day of competition en route to a berth in the ITA regional semifinals. She will be joined on the final day of competition tomorrow by the doubles team of Grace Baljon ’10 and Taylor French ’12.

The two-time defending NCAA champion Williams women's tennis team opened its fall season in fine fashion today in the Northeast Regional ITA tournament at MIT. Four Ephs advanced to the round of 16 in the singles bracket, while a pair of doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals in the doubles draw.
