Ephs dominate Trinity, 9-0

HARTFORD, CT. – The Williams women’s tennis team (14-1, 6-1) continues to look strong at the close of the season, dealing Trinity (11-5) a 9-0 loss in their final weekend before post-season play gears up.
The Ephs picked up three quick wins in doubles. Kristin Alotta and Annie Hancock tallied an 8-2 win at court three, while Cary Gibson and Nikki Reich won at one, 8-3. Grace Baljon and Taylor French rounded out the 3-0 lead with an 8-4 victory over Robyn Williams and Olivia Merns.
The momentum continued into singles play. Baljon defeated Amanda Tramont by a 6-4, 6-1 score. Winning by only a break in the first set, the Williams number one came out firing in the second set. Gibson cruised at court two, while Reich won a 6-0 second set for a win at court three.
Alotta was involved in a tight first set in her match at court four against Williams, but was rejuvenated in a 6-1 second set effort. Annie Hancock was dominant, losing only one game at court five. Lucy Marcese rounded out the clean sweep with a three set win at court five. Marcese relinquished the second set before taking a close third set, 7-5.
Williams will play their final regular season match tomorrow against Hamilton at 2:00 p.m.
