Williams Blanks Wellesely, 9-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - After suffering a tough loss against Amherst yesterday, the Williams women's tennis team bounced back with an impressive 9-0 victory against Wellesley College.

Williams got off to a strong start, taking all three doubles points. In exhibition play, the Ephs were victorious in another pair of matches.

Williams held the momentum going into singles play. Eph junior Cary Gibson topped Wellesley's Schwarzkopf on court one in straight sets, by a score of 6-1, 6-3.

On courts three and four, Lucy Marchese and Nikki Reich continued their impressive first-year campaigns. Both Ephs stole their matches in straight sets. Next down the line on court five, Williams sophomore Ashley Parsons topped her Wellesley opponent 6-3, 6-1. On court six, senior tri-captain Annie Scheidman won by a score of 6-3, 6-1.

Last to finish was Eph sophomore Grace Baljon, playing on court two. After falling in the first set 6-2, Baljon fought back to win the next two sets and complete the Eph shutout.
