Women's Tennis on CBS' NCAA Spring Championships Highlights Show Sunday
Eph head coach Alison Swain '01, junior Cary Gibson and sophomore Grace Baljon will appear on the CBS NCAA Spring Championships Highlights Show airing this Sunday on the network at 2:00 pm EST.

The Board of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards has announced that Cary Gibson, a junior tennis player at Williams College, has been nominated as a finalist for the 2007-2008 Division III Athlete of the Year representing tennis.

Having been battle tested yesterday against Tufts, Wellesley was coming off a great program win. Williams displayed their hard work this season, and handled the challenge with ease in a 5-0 win to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals.

Play begins Friday morning in the six-team NCAA Div. III Tennis regional being hosted by the Williams College Ephs. St. Lawrence and SUNY New Paltz will meet at 9:00 am, followed by a match between Tufts and Roger Williams University at 12:00 pm.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA The Williams College women's tennis team (16-3) was awarded an at-large berth into the 2008 Div. III NCAA Tournament Monday, the 16th straight season the Ephs have qualified for the NCAAs.

The high point of the womens tennis season came on April 6 when Williams (16-3, 7-1 NESCAC) finally defeated archrival Amherst (16-1, 7-1 NESCAC) 5-4, for the first time since the spring of 2006.

Ephs advance to NESCAC finals with 9-0 domination over Bowdoin
Every match womens tennis just gets better and better. Facing Bowdoin (11-7, 5-5 NESCAC) for the second time this season, top-seeded Williams (16-2, 7-0 NESCAC) demolished the fifth-seeded Polar Bears in a 9-0 showing and improved from their last match in which the Ephs took the regular season match in a 6-3 result on April 19.

Ephs top seed in NESCAC Tournament this weekend at Middlebury
First year head coach Alison Swain's Williams women's tennis team has secured the top seed in this weekend's three-day NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament on the strength of a 15-2 overall record and a 6-0 record in NESCAC play. Swain's Ephs are currently ranked second nationally.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA For the first time in the last five matches 3rd-ranked Williams did not play in a match that ended 5-4, but the Ephs were tested by 23rd-ranked Middlebury this afternoon in notching a 7-2 win.

Williams freshman Nikki Reich won the deciding match at court four to give the Ephs their first victory over the Amherst Lord Jeffs since the spring of 2006.

LEXINGTON, VA -- Washington & Lee (W&L), the defending NCAA Division III champions and ranked 1st nationally, almost exactly the same as they were in 2007 when they met the Ephs and lost, edged the Ephs this year 5-4 on their home courts.

REDLANDS, CA Despite playing in record heat (upper 90s) against the University of Redlands, the 10th-ranked team in the nation, the Purple Cows of Williams prevailed 8-1 boosting the Eph record to 6-1.

Ephs top Point Loma in spring break opener
SAN DIEGO, CA Alison Swain's Williams women's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the year by winning their opening match of their spring break this afternoon at Point Loma Nazarene 7-2. The Sea Lions of Point Loma fell to 6-9 on the year with the loss.
