
MIDDLEBURY, VT - On day two of three of the NESCAC Swimming and Diving Championship, the Williams College swimming & diving team earned 1,337.5 points to retain their lead over Amherst (1,000.5), host Middlebury (836), and Tufts (796.5). The third and final day of competition will resume tomorrow with trials at 10AM and finals at 5:30.
"We had a very good night tonight, highlighted by some great
performances," stated Eph head coach Steve Kuster. "We put 5
in the top 8 of the 400 IM and they finished 1-5 with the top 4
having swum A cut times. I believe that is the first time 1-5
has ever been accomplished. Our A and B relays continue to do an
unbelievable job. We have talked about our depth all year and
nowhere is it more obvious than in the 400 IM and the relay
Our A 200 MR is ranked approx 6th in the country and our next 4
fastest girls put together a relay that is ranked 10th or so."
"Other highlights of evening were Todhunter/Ha 1-2 in the 100 fly,
4 in the top 8 of the 8 free. 1-2-4 in the 100 breast
highlighted by Lisa Cucolo's first ever NESCAC title. The A
800 Free relay put together an outstanding race falling just short
on their come from behind bid."
Adding to the accomplishments of day one, a number of Ephs showed
their strengths in today's events. Senior Lisa Cucolo picked up a
win for the Ephs in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.94.
Junior Ellen Ramsey took the top spot in the 200 individual medley
(2:06.25). Sophomore Logan Todhunter set yet another pool record in
the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 56.58. Cucolo and Todhunter
also earned first place in the 400 medley relay alongside teammates
KC Ha and Caroline Wilson (3:57.71).
