
Bronx, NY – In their
first meet of the regular season, both the men and women of the
Williams College swimming and diving team fell to Fordham
University (Men: 209-88, Women: 182-99), however the women defeated
Boston College 170-111, while the men were defeated 214-86.
The Ephs walked away with individual victories in four of the 32
total events, and earned seven 2nd place honors. Despite the loss,
the team looks poised for a season of improvements and success.
The Ephs top individual performer against the
Rams was sophomore Logan Todhunter, who placed first in both the
women’s 100 (56.26) and 200 (2:02.17) Butterfly races.
Dominating the 500-yard freestyle was freshman Caroline Wilson,
who clocked in at 4:56.18 over her closest competitor from Fordham,
Caitlin Napoli (5:05.89). Wilson's time broke the Williams school
record established last winter by Jillian Hancock.
Wilson also claimed a second place finish in the 200 Free
(1:54.04), the 200 IM (2:09.22) and anchored the Ephs second place
200 Medley Relay (1:45.65) KC Ha, swam the first leg, followed by
Lisa Cucolo and Logan Todhunter.
Lisa Cucolo caputred second place in the 100 Breaststroke in
1:08.71) and Jillian Hancock was second in the 1000 Freestyle
(10:42.64).
The Eph 400 Free Relay (3:39.81)also came home with second place
honors with Sopie Sequeira, Cucolo, Carolyn Geller and Christina
Metcalf teaming up.
For the men, freshman Paul Dyrkacz took over the Men’s 200-yard freestyle, coming in at 1:46.47 for the win.Chris Corbett collected a second place finish in the 200 Breaststroke finishing in 2:11.38.
December 12th will bring the Ephs back home to face Connecticut College at 3:30pm.
