Ephwomen 4th, Ephmen 19th after Day 3 of NCAAs

MINNEAPOLIS, MN- The Williams College swimming and diving program claimed another individual event national championship on Friday, as the Ephwomen and Ephmen sit 4th and 19th respectively in the overall standings at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
Hosted by Macalester College, the national championships are set to continue Thursday, Mar. 19 and conclude Saturday, Mar. 21. Live results, Web casts, and photos are available at the Macalester College Website.
The star for the Ephwomen was again first year Logan Todhunter, who continued her amazing rookie campaign by grabbing the title in the 200 yard butterfly (1:57.80). Not only did Todhunter swim to her second title in as many days, but set another national record time with her 1:57.71 time in the morning preliminaries.
"This is the first time in my ten years here at Williams that we have went one-two in an event and that was amazing," said head coach Steve Kuster. "The first three days have been good, and both our squads have trained hard enough all season to the point where we should be able to finish strong tomorrow."
Fellow first year Bonnie Patchen made it an Eph sweep of the top two positions as she went from sixth in the preliminaries, to second in the finals (2:02.45).
The points from the 200 yard butterfly, as well as a fifth place finish by juniors Sophia Sequeira and Christina Metcalf, and sophomores Jillian Hancock and Ellen Ramsey in the 800 yard medley relay (7:33.48), helped the Ephwomen maintain their fourth spot in the overall standings for the third consecutive day.
For the Ephmen, the top performer was again senior Norman Scott, whose 7th place finish helped the Williams jump up one spot to 19th in the overall standings.
Action concludes Saturday at the NCAA Championships with preliminaries beginning at 10 AM and finals beginning at 5:30 PM.
