CAMBRDIGE, MA- The Williams College women's swimming and diving team put together an impressive showing on Day 2 of the MIT Invitational. The Ephwomen tallied eleven event victories in their final day of competition before the NESCAC championships.
"I thought that the women who were finishing up their season and careers today, seniors Claire Monroy, Kristin McIntosh, Denise Duquette, Emily Gray, Ali Tozier, and Caton Lee, and junior Tracey Vitchers, all had a great invitational," said head coach Steve Kuster. "I am very proud of my six seniors and all the hard work and dedication they have given to this program for the past four years."
Leading the way for the Ephs was senior Amanda Nicholson, sophomore Erin Altenbuger, and first years Logan Todhunter, Bonnie Patchen, and Carolyn Geller, who all posted top finishes in multiple events.
Nicholson grabbed the top time in 200 yard breaststroke (2:27.87), and also, along with senior Courtney Asher, sophomore Jillian Hancock, and first year Anna Szymanski, placed first in the 200 yard Medley relay (1:52.52). Altenburger swam the top time in the 200 yard backstroke (2:10.51), while also finishing second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.41).
Todhunter was dominant at 100 yards, as she swept both the backstroke (1:00.95) and freestyle events (53.89). Patchen was also impressive as she won both the 400 yard IM (4:34.28) and the 100 yard butterfly (59.43), while Geller bested the field in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.52) and the 50 yard time trial (27.18).
Rounding out the top performances for the Ephs were sophomore Ellen Ramsey, who placed first in the 500 yard freestyle, and senior Alison Tozier, who finished second in the 200 yard butterfly (2:14.74).
The Ephs, who recently capped off an undefeated dual meet season, will travel to Bowdoin February 20th for the NESCAC championships.
