BRUNSWICK, ME-  The Williams College women's swimming and diving team extended its large lead at the NESCAC Championships during Day 2 action Saturday evening.  After grabbing six more individual conference titles, the Ephs now lead Amherst by 266 points and Tufts by 494 points.

"We had a lot of great swims tonight and it turned out to be a very fun and exciting day all around," said head coach Steve Kuster.  "We now look to come out tomorrow and put forth the same amount of effort and accomplish our championship goals."

The Ephs continued to do what they did well on Day 1, and that was to accumulate large point totals in single events.  In the 400 yard IM, senior Amanda Nicholson (4:20.59; Meet Record), first year Bonnie Patchen (4:23.06), and sophomore Ellen Ramsey (4:27.08) grabbed the top three spots, while sophomore Erin Altenburger (10:07.85; Pool Record) and senior Mary Wilson Molen (10:26.98) finished first and second respectively in the 1000 yard freestyle.

In the day's first event, the Ephs won their third consecutive relay event as junior Lisa Cucolo, sophomore Olivia Card-Childers, and first years Logan Todhunter and Carolyn Geller swam the top time in the 200 yard medley relay (1:45.58; Meet Record).

Todhunter and Altenburger also claimed their second event championships of the day in the 100 yard butterfly (55.27) and the 100 yard backstroke (57.11) respectively.

Rounding out the event victories for the Ephs was senior Courtney Asher, who claimed her second title in as many days with a win in the 100 yard breaststroke (57.11).

The Ephs now look forward to Sunday's final day in their quest for a ninth consecutive NESCAC title.  Preliminary events begin at 10 AM, while the finals begin at 5:30 PM.
