HADLEY, Mass. -- The NESCAC has announced the
2008-09 Women’s Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team. The
top three finishers in each event at the 2009 NESCAC Women’s
Swimming and Diving Championship received All-Conference
recognition.
The Ephs led the conference with 13 individuals named to the
all-conference team. Williams rolled to its ninth consecutive title
winning 13 individual titles and four relays in amassing 1827.5
points.
Williams first year Logan Todhunter (Ithaca, N.Y.) came away with
Swimmer of the Meet honors at this year’s championship.
Todhunter placed first in the 50, 100 and 200-yard Butterfly
individual races and contributed to the Ephs’ victories in
the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle Relays and the 200 and 400-yard
Medley Relays. All seven events that Todhunter participated in
broke championship records. Additionally, Todhunter became the
first Division III Swimmer to break the 2:00.0 barrier in the
200-yard butterfly when she captured the event in 1:59.78 in
setting the national record.
The Four-Year High Point Swimmer honor went to Eph senior Amanda
Nicholson (Chappaqua, N.Y.), as she earned individual titles in the
200-yard Backstroke and the 400-yard IM at this year’s NESCAC
Meet. Nicholson set a NESCAC Meet Record in the 400 IM when she was
timed in 4:20.59.
Both Todhunter and Nicholson have appeared in Sports Illustrated's
"Faces in the Crowd" in their Eph careers.
Bates senior Kelsey Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) was named the Diver
of the Meet and also claimed Four Year High-Point Diving honors
after setting a Greason Pool record in the 1-meter Diving event and
also winning the 3-meter Diving competition.
Nancy Bigelow of Tufts earned NESCAC Swimming Coach of the Year
honors for the first time in her career, as she guided the Jumbos
to a third-place showing at this year’s championship.
