Payne finishes 7th in 100 breaststroke at Olympic Trials

OMAHA, NE. -- Former Eph standout Lindsay Payne '06 placed 7th
in the finals of the 100 breaststroke at the United States Olympic
Swimming Trials being held at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.
Tuesday night.
Payne finished the race in 1:08.89, 2.02 seconds off the winning
time of 1:06.87 by record-holder Jessica Hardy. Megan Jendrick
placed second with a time of 1:07.50. Hardy and Jendrick claimed
the two spots on the 2008 USA Summer Olympics swim team.
Payne, named the 2006 Honda Inspiration Award Winner for overcoming cancer and contributing to the success of her team, was a two-time Swimmer of the Meet at the Div. III NCAA Championships and multiple-event All-American and record holder nationally while at Williams. Since September of 2006, She has been swimming with the University of Southern California Trojan Swim Club in Los Angeles. She is currently ranked 6th in the country in the 100 breaststroke and 25th in the 200.
Payne will begin competition in the 200 breaststroke Thursday.
