The Williams’ women’s squash team defeated an up-and-coming Franklin & Marshall squad 9-0, before falling 9-0 to Princeton and then defeating George Washington University 9-0 this past weekend.The Ephs finished the regular season with a record of 15-6.
After the long drive to Lancaster, the Ephs hit the hot courts at Franklin & Marshall, taking down the #18 team in the country without much difficulty. Sophomore Carolyn Kaemmer only gave up six points en route to victory at the number nine position, while freshman Alli Rubin and senior Julia Reiser only dropped nine points in their matches at the number six and seven spots, respectively.
At Princeton, the Ephs had their work cut out for them, falling to last year’s National Champions 9-0. While the bottom of the Williams lineup was able to play some close games with the Tigers, it was the top of the lineup that was really able to hold their own, with senior co-captain Jennifer Coxe taking the first game from her opponent at the number two spot before succumbing to defeat, and other senior co-captain Toby Eyre dropping a heart-breaking match to Princeton’s number one after winning the first two games.
The Ephs recovered from the tough loss by taking down George Washington University 9-0 with little trouble. Again, Kaemmer was able to dispose of her opponent quickly, giving up four points in total at the number eight spot.
Williams will have a two week break, in which they will prepare for the Howe Cup Nationals tournament, held at Yale.
