Hartford, CT—Williams handily defeated Colby and Bates by 9-0 margins Saturday, securing their spot in the NESCAC finals against number one seed Trinity.
After a first round bye, the Ephs came out strong in the quarterfinals against Bowdoin, dropping only two games en route to victory. Freshman Alli Rubin played a consistent match, only giving up five points at the number six spot.
Williams took the courts again later on at night against number three seed Bates. Again, the Ephs had a dominating performance, with the few lapses coming from the bottom of the lineup. Senior co-captain Toby Eyre played well, defeating her Bates opponent in three games and proving herself as number one.
“Having played both of the teams already, we were fairly confident going into both of our matches today,” commented senior co-captain Caroline Henry. “We took advantage of the opportunity to work on our game and prepare for the much tougher match tomorrow.”
Williams will face the Trinity Bantams in the NESCAC finals at 1:30pm on Sunday.
