Ephs blank Bates, Bowdoin and Colby in Maine over the weekend

Even after a long day of traveling to Maine, the Williams women’s squash team looked comfortable on court this past weekend, defeating Bates, Bowdoin and Colby all by a score of 9-0.

Facing a rowdy Bates’ crowd on Saturday afternoon, seniors Jennifer Coxe and Julia Reiser showed no mercy, allowing their opponents no more than eight points en route to victory. Number one Toby Eyre faced a more challenging opponent in Bates’ freshman phenom Cheri-Ann Parris, who after taking the first two games, succumbed to Eyre’s speed and shot-making. Sophomore Carolyn Kaemmer also battled to the end, winning a five-game marathon after dropping the first and third games.

In the evening, the Ephs faced a similarly huge crowd at Colby, but Williams was able to rally to beat the less experienced Mules.  The biggest challenge of the night came at the number four position where freshman Ali Rubin, recovering from injury, was able to take down Madeline Dufour, despite dropping the second and third games, and narrowly winning the fourth 13-11.

On Sunday morning, the Ephs were able to sweep Bowdoin without dropping a single game, despite removing players in the two, three and four spots from the lineup. These players, instead, were able to successfully challenge the Polar Bears’ men’s squad. The Ephs will hit the courts at home against top-ranked University of Pennsylvania, rival Dartmouth, and conference opponent Hamilton this weekend.
