Ephs "Squash" the Competition

Williamstown, MA—The Williams Women’s Squash team started out the main part of the season on a high note, winning all five of their matches in a round robin style five-man tournament this weekend.
The matches were played best of five games, each to 11 points with American style scoring. The top five Williams played in the A draw, and numbers 6-10 played in the B draw. Juniors Toby Eyre, Julia Reiser and Stephanie Barnet made their 2009 season debut after coming back from studying abroad, but number two Jennifer Coxe and freshman Eliana Saltzman were unable to play due to illness.
Yet, even without a full lineup, both ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams dominated their respective draws, with the ‘B’ team not dropping a match against any of their opponents, including Wesleyan, Amherst, Dartmouth and Middlebury. The ‘A’ team had similarly impressive victories, winning 5-0 against Wesleyan, Middlebury and Bates, 4-1 against Amherst, and a close 3-2 defeat of Dartmouth.
The team will start their full first week of
training, looking towards a long weekend of matches against Yale,
Middlebury, Mt. Holyoke, and Bates.
