The Ephs Fight the Yale Bulldogs

    The Ephs faced off against the Yale Bulldogs Thursday evening at Yale to walk off of the courts feeling confident about their play. The Williams players lost 7-2 to Yale, with Toby Eyre and Ashley Eyre winning their matches in the one two positions, respectively.
`    After loosing the first game against Yale’s Miranda Ranieri, Toby came back to beat her opponent in four games. Ashley had a very tight match against her Yale competitor, Logan Greer. Ashley took the first game 9-6, only to loose the next two with a score of 8-10. She then came back to win the two subsequent games 10-8, 9-4. Williams’ number six player, Caroline Henry, also took her Bulldog adversary, Sarah Barenbaum, to five games. After starting the match out with 9-2 losses in the first 2 games, Caroline came back to win the next two, but was taken out by Barenbaum in the fifth. Williams’ Arianna Kourides took Yale’s Jessica Balderston to four games with a 9-6 win in the third. Unfortunately, Williams’ number 3 player, Jennifer Coxe, had to default from the match during the second game due to a twisted ankle.  
    Head Coach Zafi Levy said of the match, “This is the best match we have played this year. While we are till short one of our top players, our ladies really stepped up today. We are so proud of Toby and Ashley, who give us so much confidence in the top of the lineup.”
