Wolfson, Duggan named All-American

Five Ephs named All-New England

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Williams College senior midfielder Brianna Wolfson (Brookville, NY) and junior defender Kara Duggan (Poway, CA) have been named All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Wolfson, the 2009 NESCAC Player of the Year, was selected to the NSCAA's Second Team, while Duggan was a Third Team selection.

In addition, Wolfson and Duggan were named First Team All-New England by the NSCAA. Senior goalie Lauren Sinnenberg (Westfield, NJ) joined the pair on the First Team, while senior forward Sarah Walmsley (Pelham Manor, NY) and junior midfielder Sara Wild (Portland, Ore.) were Second Team All-New England selections.

Williams finished 19-1 in 2009, winning its third consecutive conference championship and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wolfson was also a First Team All-NESCAC selection for the third year in a row. She was  a critical component to the success of the Ephs both offensively and defensively. This season, Wolfson compiled 16 points (4 goals, 8 assists). For her career, she has 89 points, including 30 goals, 11 of which have been game-winners. She owns the career assist record at Williams with a total of 29.

Duggan was the anchor of a defensive unit which has allowed just nine goals in 20 games this season. In addition to being a stalwart on the defensive end, she’s added goal-scoring to her resume, tallying three times during the fall to date. Duggan was also a 2009 ECAC New England All-Star (First Team).

Sinnenberg made her third straight appearance as an all-conference selection in 2009 after being selected All-New England and All-America in 2008. She played in all 20 games this season and allowed eight goals in nearly 1,179 minutes of work. She had an .864 save percentage and a 0.61 goals against average and played a part in all 14 of the Ephs’ shutouts.

Walmsley was third on the team in points with 29 and first with assists (13). That 13 set a new single-season record for assists at Williams. Three of her six goals were game-winners. Walmsley completed her career with 73 points (25 goals, 23 assists).

Wild was also an All-New England selection in 2008. She completed her 2009 season with 7 goals and 5 assists for 19 points. She was also a 2009 ECAC New England All-Star (2nd Team).
