KANSAS CITY, KS -- Williams junior back and captain Kara Duggan (Poway, CA) has been named to the NSCA/adidas Senior College Scholar All-American Team.
Duggan and Anjuli Demers of Middlebury were the only two players from NESCAC named to the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America Team and both were Second Team honorees.
To be nominated for consideration, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution and either be in their second year at the current school if a transfer student.
The NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America selections will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, held in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA Convention.
A starter from day one at Williams, Duggan has anchored a particularly stingy Eph defense that has enabled the Ephs to run up a 42-match regular season unbeaten skein (41-0-1) over the past three years. The Ephs won a share of the Little Three title for the third consecutive year, claimed a third straight NESCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year Duggan has been a team member, finishing 9th nationally.
This past fall the Eph defense allowed just nine goals in 20 contests and recorded 13 shutouts.
Duggan, who netted three goals this fall, was previously named
First Team All-NESCAC, First Team All-ECAC New England, and a
NSCAA/adidas Third Team All-American.
