Ephs play final game of Brazilian tour

Annelise Snyder '11

Today we got up and had some free time on the beach before our last game in Brazil, against the Santos club.  After the beach, we at lunch at a nicer restaurant and then paid a visit to the Santos Club store.

When we got to our game, we only had about ten minutes to warm up and prepare to face a very talented team.  The Brazilians' technical ability and speed were great challenges for us as we battled through a difficult 90 minutes on a hard and bumpy field.  A goal came for the Brazilians in the second half off a shot that curved just inside the far post, putting the Brazilians up 1-0.  Despite playing most of the game with composure and tenacity, we were unable to score and the game ended with the score of 1-0.   Though we lost, we came away from the game with a sense of excitement about the work we have to do and the challenges ahead of us this season.

After the game, we went to a pizzeria and ate all kinds of pizza, from margharita to bananas and cinnamon.  It was the karaoke, however, that really made the night.  Seniors, juniors, and sophomores sang as classes and we even were entertained by a duet by the coaching staff.

The senior Ephs are teaming up to provide daily updates from Brazil.
