After a week of hard training in Brazil, the team was finally able to indulge in some well-earned baech time. A group of girls woke at 5:45 to enjoy a Brazilian sunrise while the rest of the team chose to sleep in. The Ephs laid out on the beach all morning trying to perfect their Brazilian tans. Some girls headed straight for the water while others opted for a good book and a walk on the beach.
The team took a break from the beach to sample some local Brazilian food. In the center of Guaraja, the team tasted chicken heart and fried bananas. After an adventurous lunch, many needed to fill up with "sorvetes", the ice cream in Brazil.
After a brief drive through Guaraja, the team found an area of flat sand to play beach soccer. 19 girls practiced their technical skills on the soft Brazilian sand while locals looked on. After the session, the Williams team took off to the local stores. Favorite purchases included Brazilian wish bracelets, Havaianas sandals, and some highly sought after American candy.
The team returned from the shopping excursion to have a beach side dinner back at the hotel. With a free night to themselves, the team rested up for their next game.
The senior Ephs are teaming up to provide daily updates from Brazil.
