Ephs Fall to Second Brazilian Opponent

The Ephs started Day 4 in Brazil by giving their legs a much needed and well-deserved break. After breakfast, the team traveled a few miles down the road to the town of Monte Siao where the players had the chance to explore the area. Along with a little bit of shopping, the Ephs had the opportunity to sample a few local treats such as bacon-flavored popcorn, coconut milk, and sugercane juice.
In the afternoon, the Ephs took on their second Brazilian
opponent, the club team S.A.A.D. The Brazilian team-- the
best the Ephs have faced yet-- is said to roster several national
team pool players. The dynamic play of S.A.A.D frustrated the Ephs
early on, and S.A.A.D took a 1-0 lead midway through the first
half; another goal late in the half increased S.A.A.D's lead to
2-0. The second half saw the Ephs settle the game a bit,
although they remained unable to find a comfortable rhythm of
play. A goal midway through the half off of a corner kick
proved to be the last goal of the game, which ended in a 3-0
loss for the Ephs. Although disappointed with the result, the
Ephs were appreciative of the opportunity to compete against such a
skilled team and are looking forward to their next game on Saturday
in Sao Paulo.
After a post-game lift and swim, the Ephs were treated to a
performance by the Campasina Capoeira group. Capoeira, a
mixture of dance and martial arts, proved to be an entertaining
activity as the team got to watch a show and then learn a few basic
moves and test out their new skills with the Campasina group.
The team is looking foward to a rafting adventure and resuming
training tomorrow.
The Eph seniors are teaming up to provide daily updates from Brazil.
