When you go through two regular seasons and two NESCAC
Tournaments without losing a game and become the first team to
repeat as NESCAC Champions it is a given that some of your players
are going to be honored for their efforts. That is certainly the
case for the 2008 Ephs.
Williams (16-0-1) placed five players on the All-NESCAC First
Team, one on the Second Team and for the second consecutive year
head coach Michelyne Pinard has been named the Coach of the
Year.
Pinard has guided the Ephs to a glittering 21-0-1 record in NESCAC
regular season and tournament play over the last two seasons. Under
Pinard Williams has an overall record of 33-1-1 the last two years
heading into this Sunday's NCAA Tournament contest against the
winner of the Norwich/Husson contest.
Four Ephs repeated as First Team selections; senior forward Gabby
Woodson (Plano, TX), junior forward Brianna Wolfson (Brookville,
NY), senior back Caitlin Colesanti (Wyckoff, NJ) and junior goalie
Lauren Sinnenberg (Westfield, NJ).
For the second straight season Gabby Woodson is the leading goal
scorer (12) for the Ephs and with seven assists tops the team in
points with 31. Woodson also leads the Ephs with four game-winning
goals. Wolfson has netted 10 goals, has a team-high eight assists
(28 points) and she has delivered three game winners.
Colesanti and Sinnenberg have played key roles in limiting Eph
opponents to just nine goals on the year against the 48 Williams
has netted. Colesanti, a captain and three-year starter is the
anchor of the back line. Sinnenberg in 1262:49 in goal has allowed
just seven goals on the year for a goals against average of 0.50.
She has posted seven shutouts this fall.
Earning conference honors for the first time are sophomores Sara
Wild (Portland, OR) and Kara Duggan (Poway, CA). Wild, a midfielder
was named to the First Team and Duggan, a back, was named to the
Second Team.
Wild has notched seven goals on the year, including three
game-winners and she has also assisted on four tallies to date.
Duggan, the voice and organizer of the Eph backline, notched her
first goal of her collegiate career this season.
Sunday the Ephs will face Husson College (ME) in a second round game of the NCAA Tournament at 1:00 PM on Cole Field.
