KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE- Williams women's soccer (2-0) capped off a successful weekend of play with a convincing 4-1 victory over non-conference opponent Keene State (3-2) this afternoon.  Despite a bout of rain late in the second half the Ephs battled through any tough conditions with ease and solidified a comfortable lead before the game was called with twelve minutes left due to lightning.

Ephs head coach Michelyne Pinard said, "We played so much better than Saturday's game.  Our ball movement was excellent and we had so many chances to score right from the start of the game."

Williams came out firing early indeed and had 16 shots on goal in the first half of play.  Three minutes into the game Jessie Freeman's shot barely cleared the cross bar.  Brianna Woolfson capitalized only a few minutes later off a pass from Ana Sani to give Williams the early lead.  Kaolin McEvoy extended the Ephs' lead at the thirty-minute mark to head into the second half with a 2-0 advantage.

Gabrielle Woodson continued the Ephs' offensive attack, scoring her second goal of the season with 29:24 remaining in the match up to give Williams a solid 3-0 lead.

Keene State improved their quality of play in the second half, and was able to avoid the shutout after a scramble in front of the Ephs' goal.  Lauren Sinnenberg and Julia Schreiber split the goaltending duties and while Sinnenberg had a relatively easy day on the job, Schreiber faced a much cleaner effort by the Owls.  After a cross from the right side, the rookie goalkeeper Schreiber was knocked down in the scuffle which allowed Keene State's Michelle Boland to find the open net and put her team on the scoreboard at the seventy-minute mark.

Overall Williams dominated offensively and fired 25 shots on goal.  More impressively the Ephs defense allowed Keene State only one shot on goal in 78 minutes of play.

Williams will play their first home game of the season on September 15th at 4:30 pm.
