WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- This past week the Eph
grapplers secured their first twenty win season in school history.
The NEWA coaches rewarded them with the number one ranking in New
England, a distinction they have maintained all season.
All season the Ephs have been led by their top three wrestlers,
Ryan Malo, Carl Breitenstein, and Dylan Rittenburg. All of whom are
once again the top ranked wrestlers in their weight classes. By
virtue of his impressive season, Malo was singled out by the
conference coaches as the Wrestler of the Week. Malo is 23-0 in the
New Year with 20 falls.
Freshman Ces Antista, ranked third at 133 pounds, was named the
NEWA rookie of the week. Antista is now the third Eph freshman to
be named NEWA Rookie of the Week following Tom Foote and Kaison
Tanabe. Antista was 3-0 on the week and defeated a number of
talented wrestlers.
149 pound junior Corey Paulish went 3-0 on the week and handily
defeated Wesleyan’s 8th ranked Vin deLalla, 8-3. He remains
ranked second in his weigh class.
This weekend, George Sullivan won both of his matches and only
needed five minutes to score a decisive pin over third ranked Greg
Hurd of Wesleyan. Sullivan is now ranked second at 174.
Also ranked for the Ephs are Josh Mattana ranked 4th at 125, Jon
Foster ranked 7th at 165, Andrew Gatewood ranked 6th at 184, and
