WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- By virtue of their victory in the Doug Parker Invitational, the Ephs are unanimously ranked first in the most recent NEWA coaches poll. Unsurprisingly the Ephs also dominate the individual rankings. The Ephs were led by Carl Breitenstein, Dylan Rittenburg, and Ryan Malo, all of whom are ranked first in their respective weight classes.
Freshman Kaison Tanabe was named the NEWA rookie wrestler of the week. Tanabe was impressive in his first collegiate tournament, capturing second place in the 133 pound weight class. In the most recent NEWA individual rankings Tanabe is 3rd at 133 pounds.
Tanabe, Breitenstein, Rittenburg and Malo are joined in the rankings by Josh Mattana (6th at both 125 and 133), Nate Shippee (2nd at 184), and Corey Paulish (3rd at 149).
The Eph grapplers next hit the mats on December 5th in the Spartan Invitational.
