NORTHFIELD, VT- The Ephs traveled to Norwich University to participate in the Norwich Duals. There they faced off against some of the top teams in NEWA. The Ephs were undaunted by the tough competition, decisively defeating all four teams they faced.
Williams (15-3-1) put together another tremendous team effort. The Ephs defeated: Plymouth State 36-9, Bridgewater State 35-13, Norwich 27-12, and MIT 34-14. Williams benefited from strong efforts by Dylan Rittenburg, Carl Breitenstein, James McCarthy, Ryan Malo, and Evan Cohen. All of whom went undefeated.
In the Ephs first match of the day they defeated Plymouth State handily, 36-9. Ethan Cohen set the tone for the Ephs defeating all conference standout Fred Wilkinson, 4-1. In the 157 pound weight class Carl Breitenstein earned a major decision over Mike Wiley, a very talented wrestler. Standout Ryan Malo, wrestling at 197, defeated Josh St. Ours, the fourth ranked 197 in NEWA on points, 13-0.
The Ephs dominated their second match beating Bridgewater State, 35-13. Ethan Cohen, Corey Paulish, and Ryan Malo all pinned their opponents in less than two and a half minutes. Freshman Heavyweight Nikola Mirkovic was impressive, scoring a major decision over Sam Fritz, 11-2.
In their third match the Ephs continued their momentum against Norwich University, winning 27-12. In the 157 pound weight class Carl Breitenstein defeated Conner Keating in a tough match, 6-5. Last Year Keating was all conference and is currently ranked 6th in NEWA.
The Ephs final match of the day ended like their previous three, in victory. This time the Ephs defeated MIT, 34-15. Ryan Malo capped off his day with an impressive pin over Joseph Silverman. Silverman is currently ranked second in NEWA.
The Ephs return to action this Saturday (1/31) at the Hunter College Duals.
