
The Williams wrestling team (1-0-1)
will head to the Desert Duals in Las Vegas this weekend as the
top-ranked team in New England. In the latest NEWA Poll the Ephs
have jumped over Johnson & Wales (JWU) into first place on the
strength of eight first place votes.
Johnson & Wales received five first place votes, but the Ephs
have a 12-point lead over JWU, 134-122.
Both the Ephs and JWU will be joining seven other
nationally-ranked teams in the 30-team Desert Duals field competing
at the Flamingo Ballrooms in Las Vegas this weekend, in an event
hosted by Wartburg College.
Wartburg is the number one team in the nation and will be the
Ephs' third opponent on Dec. 21st . The Ephs will also tangle with
#23 Olivet College (in their first match), face Embry Riddle in
match two and the University of Chicago Maroons in their final
contest.
Seven Ephs are ranked in the top six in the New England region . Corey Paulish remains the top-ranked wrestler at 141. The three ephs rnaked second in the region include: Ethan Cohen at 125, Ryan Malo (184) and Carl Breitenstein (157). Dylan Rittenburg (149) and Kyle Ayer (197) are both ranked third and Josh Mattana is sixth at 133.
