In just their second competition of the season the Ephs finished
third at the annual Doug Parker Tournament at Springfield College,
but fell to third in the regional rankings. The Merchant marine
Academy won the Doug Parker Tournament and host Springfield
finished second 2.5 points ahead of the Ephs, That narrow margin
was enough to lift Springfield from 5th in last week's New England
team poll to second.
Johnson & Wales University sits atop the poll with 146 points.
JWU has received 11 first place votes. The Ephs did receive two
more first place votes than Springfield (3-1), but the Pride holds
a 1-point lead in the poll.
This week six Ephs are ranked in the top six in the ten weight
classes, down one from a week ago.
Moving up in the rankings from last week were senior captain Kyle
Ayer (197) who is now ranked second and junior Carl Breitenstein
(157) who also moved up from third to second. Holding steady at
second is sophomore transfer Ryan Malo at 184.
Senior captain Ethan Cohen (125) and sophomore Corey Paulish (141)
dropped from first to second, while junior captain Dylan Rittenburg
also slipped one spot to third at 149.
Next up for the Ephs is a trip to the Midwest where they will face
Simpson College (IA) in a dual match on Friday, December 5th before
participating in the Simpson Invitational on the 6th.
