Chris Mason came to Williams in 1980 after guiding the Boston University field hockey and lacrosse teams from club sports to Varsity status.

Two of Mason's Eph lacrosse teams have recorded undefeated seasons – 1990 (13-0) and 1996 (15-0).  Four times in the 1990s (1990, 1993, 1996 & 1999) Mason directed the Ephs to the ECAC New England title.

Her 1998 and 2000 Eph teams finished second in the NCAA Tournament.

After taking a sabbatical during the 2000-01 academic year, Mason decided to give up her head coaching duties in field hockey to concentrate on lacrosse, but she remains an assistant in field hockey.

In 1983 and 1984 Mason was on leave from the Eph field hockey team competing for the U.S. Olympic field hockey team and she also missed the 1982-85 lacrosse seasons.

Mason graduated from Penn State in 1978 with a bachelor's of science in physical education and in 1986 she received a Master's in education from Boston University. From 1977-1984 she was a member of the U.S. Field Hockey Team and she was named to the 1980 and 1984 U.S. Olympic teams.

The 1984 U. S. Olympic field hockey team won a bronze medal in Los Angeles.  In 1989 Mason was inducted into the U.S. Field Hockey Hall of Fame.
