Julia Schreiber named NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week and womenslacrosse.com

HADLEY, MA – Williams junior goalkeeper Julia Schreiber (Cockeysville, Md.) was named the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for her role in leading the Ephs to their first NESCAC title and a berth in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.In addition Schreiber was named the national Division III Defensive Player of the Week by womenslacrosse.com.

Schreiber anchored the Eph defense during the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse

Championship Tournament, posting a .650 save percentage and a 7.00 goals against average. On Saturday in an 11-10 victory over top-seeded Trinity, Schreiber made 14 saves, recording seven stops while allowing only three goals in the second half.

Of Schreiber’s 38 saves in the NESCAC Tournament 22 came in the second half.

Sunday, Schreiber and the Williams defense were even stingier, shutting out defending champ Colby in the second half. She recorded 12 saves in the 9-4 victory. She saved .824 percent of the shots she faced in the second half over the final two games (14-for-17).

Schreiber leads NESCAC goalies in games played (18), minutes played (1,062:09) and save percentage (.531), and saves (172).
