WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- Not even two inclement weather delays could slow the Eph's strong offense, as the women's lacrosse team (10-4) defeated visiting Redlands Wednesday afternoon, 16-0. It was William's fourth consecutive victory and final tune up before Friday's NESCAC showdown with Middlebury.
"This was a good team effort and it was great to get a lot of our players into the game," said head coach Chris Mason. "It's good to see that Redlands was able to come out to the East coast, and that they are making a strong effort to improve their program."
It was truly a team effort for the Ephs, as ten different players recorded goals on the day. Senior Britt Spackman led the attack with three tallies and one assist, while first year Taylor Fleishacker contributed a strong all around performance with two goals and three assists. Juniors Whitney Thayer, Tracey Ferriter, and Alice Nelson (one assist) all scored twice on the day for the Ephs.
Mother nature was also a factor in the contest as lightning warnings caused delays twice in the first half. The teams, however, would return to the field both times, and the game remained uninterrupted for the entire second half.
Rounding out the numbers for the Ephs were seniors Julia Nawrocki (one assist), Antonia Clark (one goal), and Elizabeth Burns (one goal), junior Tina Nawrocki (one assist), sophomore Allison Page (one goal), and first years Emily Wendell (one goal) and Kaitlin Ellis (one assist).
Sophomore Julia Schreiber saved three shots while recording her tenth win of the season and first shutout.
Next up for the Ephs is regular season finale against Middlebury, who travels to Renzie Lamb Field on Friday at 4:15 PM with a record of 7-4, and 6-2 in the NESCAC.
