
BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Tracey Ferriter netted
two goals and registered an assist in a 4-goal second period in
leading the Ephs to their fourth consecutive win, 5-1 over Division
I Sacred Heart University. Williams improved to 9-7-2 on the year
while the Pioneers fell to 5-16-1.
With the win the Ephs have already exceeded last year's win
total of eight.
The Ephs exploded for four goals after both teams were scoreless
after the first period. The first Williams tally came just 30
seconds in as the ephs capitalized on a power play with Ferriter
scoring off a pass from Hannah Systrom. At 7:21 of the period
Ferriter scored the game-winner unassisted.The goals by Feriter
were her 5th and 6th of the year.
Allison Page notched the third Ephs goal and her third of the
year at 10:21 with an unassisted net stretcher.
With just one second remaining in the period Ferriter regstered an
assist on a goal by Eliza Foster. Foster's buzzer beater was her
third score of the year.
A little over halway through the final period the Pioneers finally got on the scoreboard when Nicole Palazzo scored off a feed from Caitlin Gottwald.
The Ephs Sarah Herr answered the Palazzo tally with Lauren Zurek getting credit for the assist to provide the final tally of the contest. Herr's goal was her third of the season.
Eph senior goalie Sara Plunkett turned aside 31 of 32 attempts by the Pioneers to cliam the win, while Raelen Sydor stopped 24 of 29 Ephs shots in taking the loss.
Next up for the Ephs is one of their longest raod trips of the season as they will be at Hamilton for a 7:00 PM contest and then at Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon to play the Camels at 3:00 PM.
