Former 2-sport Eph standout Joey Lye will become one of the youngest U.S. collegiate head coaches as she takes over the WIlliams women's ice hockey team this season as the interim head coach.

Bowdoin answers back to defeat Williams 4-2 in NESCAC quarterfinal
A third period rally by the Polar Bears turned the tables on the purple and gold, and despite a gritty, gutsy comeback effort, the Ephs unable to find the equalizer in the final minutes of regulation. Bowdoin will advance to play either Amherst or Middlebury next weekend.

Women's hockey grinds out emotional win over Bowdoin 3-2
In the wake of the traditional senior day pregame ceremony, the purple and gold shot out of the gate, playing with intensity and heart for the full sixty minutes and eventually overtaking the Polar Bears in the final period. The win earns the Ephs home ice advantage in the round one of NESCAC tourney game between these two teams, and also puts Williams over .500 for the season for the first time since 2005-06.

Relentless forechecking, swift puck movement on the power-play, and clutch netminding by senior tri-captain Sara Plunkett was the formula for success for Williams this evening, as they skated to an important conference win and their 7th shoutout of the season.

This afternoon's game between Williams and Amherst was decisively more one-sided than last night's arch-rival matchup, as the Jeffs unloaded for eight scores over sixty mintues, the most goals allowed by the Ephs to any team all season.

Ephs battle hard but fall 6-3 to Amherst
Down 5-1 heading into the final period, the game seemed out of reach for the purple and gold, but effective puck control on the power-play gave the Ephs two goals and a chance to pull out a win with time on the clock. The Jeffs clamped down for the remainder of regulation however, sewing up the conference victory with a late score.

Ephs fall to Conn. College 5-2 ending win streak
The Williams women's hockey squad impressive five-game winning streak came to an end this afternoon, courtesy of a Camels offense that unleashed 5 goals on 33 shots. Although the Ephs scored twice in the third, it was not enough to overcome the four score deficit.

Although it was not as "pretty" a victory as their shutout win over the Continentals in the season opener, the Ephwomen pulled it out against Hamilton to keep their winning streak alive and jump into third in the NESCAC stadnings.

The 4th ranked Trinity College Bantams came to the Lansing Chapman Rink Sunday afternoon, and the Ephs skated away with their biggest win of the season. The Williams women were backboned by a spectacular performance by senior goaltender Sara Plunkett on their way to a 3-2 victory.

Women's hockey swept by Middlebury 6-2
MIDDLEBURY, VT -- The Ephs were looking to bounce back from a loss at home against the Panthers last night by pulling out a victory on the road this evening, but the Middlebury offense was again too muhc for Williams to overcome as they fell 6-2. The defeat drops the Ephs to 5-7-2, with a 4-3-1 mark in the conference, while Middlebury remains in the third a point behind Trinity with a NESCAC tally of 7-2-1 and a 9-4-1 mark overall.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams College women's hockey squad (5-6-1) and conference foe Middlebury (8-4-1) squared off at the Lansing Chapman Rink this evening, resulting in a 4-2 victory for the Panthers. With the loss, the Ephs are now 4th in the NESCAC standings at 4-2-1, and have dipped below .500 overall for the first time this season. The win places Middlebury in 3rd as they improve to 6-2-1 in conference play.

Utica downs Ephs 1-0
UTICA, NY -- The Williams women's hockey team (4-5-1) played a gutsy sixty minutes in upstate New York this evening but could not find the equalizing score, as they fell to the Utica Pioneers (8-5-2) for the second time this season, this one by a count of 1-0. The Ephs played the Pioneers to a one-goal loss earlier in the season on Dec. 12th, but head coach Marissa O'Neil was convinced that the team played better in this contest.

Ephs drop first game to R.I.T. 7-3
The first loss of the Williams women's ice hockey season came at the hands of the powerful Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology. Although the Ephs came back from an early two-goal deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the second period, they could not hold off the Tiger attack in the third as R.I.T. scored the last five goals for the win.
