Ephs tie Neumann 2-2

ASTON, PA – The Williams women’s ice hockey team
finished out the weekend with a 2-2 tie against Neumann College.
The Ephs’ record now stands at 1-10-2, while the Knights are
6-5-3 after today’s match-up.
The game remained scoreless until early in the second period when
Williams scored on a power play. Kate O’Brien passed the puck
from the top of the zone to Tracey Ferriter, who redirected the
puck towards the net. Sam Tarnasky followed Ferriter’s shot,
connecting on the rebound to put the Ephs up 1-0.
Neumann answered in the third period when Jessica Schroeder netted
an unassisted goal at 2:16. The Knights grabbed the lead at the
8:05 mark, with Holly Williams notching the Knight’s second
goal of the game. Tabatha Schury and Vicki Scott collected assists
on the play.
The Knights lead, however, was short-lived, as senior Sarah
Nowakowski found the back of the net at 15:33 to tie the game at 2.
Of her senior defender, Coach Shannon Bryant remarked, “Sarah
had a great weekend for us. She really stepped up her play and was
a great contributor.”
Despite the Ephs' continued offensive efforts (Williams had a
total of 60 shots on goal, compared to the Knights’ 37), the
game ended in a tie.
Pleased with the way her team played, Bryant said, “We
played an entire 60 minutes. We came out hard and continued to
crash the net. We had a lot of good offensive opportunities and
played some really good two-way hockey.”
As the Ephs return home for two conference games against Trinity
next weekend, Bryant is confident in her team's play. “I
think we have some really good momentum going into next
weekend.”
The Ephs will face-off against the Bantams on Friday, January 25
at 7:00 pm, for the first of a two game series.
