Ephs lose close game to Neumann College, 2-1

ASTON, PA – The Williams women’s ice hockey team traveled to Pennsylvania today to play the first of two games against Neumann College. The Ephs (1-10-1) narrowly lost 2-1 to the Knights (6-5-2) in this evening’s contest.

The first goal of the game came at 15:14 in the first period. Kristin Gaustier took advantage of an Eph penalty to score on a power play, putting the Knights up 1-0. Robyn Armstrong and Jenelle Marier collected assists on the play.

Neumann scored again at the 14:00 mark in the second period when Vicki Scott netted an assist from Tabatha Schury. The Ephs brought the game to within one when senior captain Caralyn Quan found the back of the net with four seconds left in the period. Scoring on a power play, Quan was assisted by sophomore Tracey Ferriter and junior Joey Lye.

While the Ephs held the Knights to 2, they were unable to scrape together another goal, despite out shooting the Knights 34-25 in the game. With a scoreless third period, the game ended 2-1 in favor of Neumann College.

Reflecting on the game, Coach Shannon Bryant said, “It was a good game, a good hard fought game. And we’ll look to make a comeback for tomorrow.”

The Ephs will face-off against the Knights again tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
