Erika DeSanty, a native of nearby Clarksburg, MA, enters her
third year at Williams and first year as the head coach of the
women’s golf team. In her first two years at Williams,
DeSanty served as an assistant coach for the women’s
basketball team, where she coordinated film exchange and assisted
in recruiting, player development, and game preparation.
Prior to Williams, DeSanty served as an assistant varsity and head
junior varsity basketball coach at Elmira College. In two seasons
at Elmira, the Soaring Eagles recorded the second highest two-year
win total in the history of the program, competed in two conference
championships and set two college records for number of consecutive
wins.
While fulfilling her coaching responsibilities at both Elmira and
Williams, DeSanty has continued to pursue her passion for golf,
working for the Callaway Golf Company as a demo technician and for
eduKaytion golf as an instructor. EduKaytion golf was
established and has been successfully run by Kay McMahon, PGA and
LPGA professional, while Eloise Trainor, founder and former CEO of
The Future Stars Tour, serves as director of operations.
DeSanty has enjoyed working at some of New England’s finest
courses over the past eight years and recently began the first
stage of certification to become a LPGA Teaching & Club
Professional.
A local standout, named Western Mass Division II MVP after Drury
High School’s women’s basketball team won the Western
Mass title in 2001, DeSanty went on to a successful collegiate
career at Colby-Sawyer College. While at Colby-Sawyer, she
was a four-year starting point guard and two-year captain for the
women’s basketball team. In her senior season she set
the all-time record for assists and was named MVP as the Chargers
won the conference championship and advanced to the first round of
the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to coaching the women’s golf team, DeSanty also
maintains the presidential accounts and assists in the development
of a website for the Board of Trustees in the Office of the
President at the College.
DeSanty graduated from Colby-Sawyer in 2005 with a Bachelor of
Science degree in sport management and from Elmira College in 2007
with a Master of Science degree in education.
