HOWEY-in-the-HILLS, FL – Round two of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships ended today with Wisconsin Eau-Claire (651) just one stroke behind day one leader Methodist University (650). The Williams College women's golf team improved their position in the tournament considerably, moving from 13th place into a solid 5th on day two with a score of 684.

Head coach Erika DeSanty had nothing but praise for the team's effort, stating that she was "so fortunate to have such a determined and driven team. After completing our round, our team stayed on the practice green for an additional hour. I didn't have to ask them to stay; they wanted to stay to get better and gain confidence and that's just what they did."

The Ephs' dedication was evident across the boards today, slicing down their day one score of 353 to 331. Senior Anne O'Leary again proved to be a team leader, shooting an 85 on the day (167 overall).

Fellow senior Mary Gelber tied with Anne for 22nd place overall with her score of 79 today, as did Annie Jackson of Gustavus Adolphus (85), Kristen Davenport of Southwestern University (81), and Emily Bachert of Centre College (84). Another Eph, Becky Miller, shot a 79 today for a total of 168 to tie for 27th place.

"Becky improved by ten shots, while Mary improved by nine. They had terrific rounds and have much to be proud of today," says the Eph coach. "Tomorrow our goals will be greater because as a group we can shoot lower. Still, I'm very pleased with our effort and round today."

The third day of competition resumes tomorrow, Thursday May 13, 2010 and Friday will be the last day of the competition.
