HANOVER, NH -- The Ephs finished
tied for 9th with Amherst in a field of 20 teams at the Dartmouth
Invitational posting a final overall score of 656. The Ephs shot
329 on day two of the Invite, just two shots off of yesterday's
effort. Williams and Amherst tied for top honors among the
non-Division I teams in the event.
Seniors Anne O’Leary and Mary Gelber set the pace for the
day. O’Leary set the tone as both a team leader and a score
leader and shot a 78. O'Leary's two-day total of 155 placed her in
a tie for 8th place overall.
Aliza Shatzman and Victoria Student, fresh to NESCAC competition,
shot an 87 and an 88 respectively. Sophomore Kristen Tubbs finished
with an 84.
The Williams women’s golf team hopes to take a lot away from
this weekend. Coach Erika DeSanty commented, “Starting out
the season at Dartmouth, with such a challenging course with
equally challenging competition gave us a good idea of where we
stand in our conference, and even amongst D1 schools. This weekend
did a lot to alleviate nerves and hopefully set the bar for the
rest of the season."
Next up for the Ephs is the Mount Holyoke Invitational to be played in Haldey, MA, September 26 & 27.
