Season Opens With High Hopes

HANOVER, NH --
The Williams College women’s golf team opened the fall season at the Dartmouth Invite today at Hanover Country Club. The course conditions were optimal. Hanover CC is an extremely challenging, yet well-maintained course. Despite the slight winds in the morning, it turned out to be a beautiful day, ideal for play.

Williams scored 327 overall and placed 8th out of 20 teams in a field with mostly Division I teams. The Ephs are the highest finishing Divsion III team in the field with an eight-shot lead on Amherst.

Anne O’Leary played the number one spot and shot a 77. She is tied for ninth after closing with a 36 on the back nine. Playing at number two was sophomore Kristen Tubbs who finished with a 91. Freshman Victoria Student played the number 5 spot and shot an impressive 78. Fellow freshman Aliza Shatzman shot a 90 from the number 3 spot.

Mary Gelber played the number 4 spot and shot an 82. Head coach Erika DeSanty commented on the Ephs' performance today saying, “Last year we averaged 337, so for us as a team, knowing that we can do better, I’m thrilled with what we accomplished today. It’s a very exciting time and I’m confident with our potentional for improvement throughout the season”.

The Ephs will complete the Dartmouth Invite with a second round tomorrow.
