WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Williams College women's golf team finished up this weekend's Williams invite in second place with a score of 628, just two strokes behind champion Amherst (626). Wellesley came in third (643), followed by St. Lawrence University (647) and NYU (667).
Leading the individual scoreboards this weekend were Hayley Milbourn of Amherst (78/73), Kimberly Eaton of Wellesley (79/72), Alex Bello of Vassar (76/76), first second and third respectively. Teammates Flora Weeks and Keely Levins of Middlebury both shot 153 to earn a tie for fourth place, and tied for sixth were Megan Doherty of Holy Cross, Kinne Schwartz of Amherst, and Eph Becky Miller, all with 155.
On their last weekend of competition this season, head Coach Erika DeSanty was more then thrilled with the effort that her team put forth this weekend. "This weekend was a complete team effort, proving the depth and potential we have. I am thrilled by the improvement and growth we have made as individuals and as a team this spring."
About Miller's spot in the top six, coach says that "Becky is playing with confidence and she should be. She has the ability to not only hit nearly every green in regulation, but to have an opportunity for birdie. She is impressive to watch and has much to be proud of this weekend."
With an overall score of 170 on the weekend, senior Kristen Nottebohm had the best competitive round of her career. A proud coach DeSanty said that she was "so happy for Kristin. Early on this season she committed herself to becoming more consistent and she has done that. She deserved a great ending to a successful playing career."
Other notable performances came from Mary Gelber (156) and Kait O'Brien (167), who ended ninth and tied for 26th, respectively. "I hope they walked off the course more confident in their games and knowing just how important they are to the overall success of our team," said coach.
