Senior Melissa Barton (Simsbury, CT) has been leading the way
this fall for the Eph team on the course this fall, as she has done
throughout her career and co-caches Kris Herman and Fran Vandermeer
have appointed Barton the team captain.
"Melissa has probably been our most consistent player this fall and
what I love about her is that she is a good mentor to the younger
players with her steady demeanor and approach to the game," noted
coach Herman. This fall Barton logged the lowest round by a
Division III player at Dartmouth with a 77 on day one and fired a
second day 79 at Mt. Holyoke.
"Without a doubt she's our team leader," said Herman. "Being
a captain is an important and demanding job and there is much to do
to on and off the course. Coach Vandermeer and I look forward
to continuing to work with Melissa to grow the women's golf program
at Williams. On the course she has been a great player for
four years, but more importantly she's grown into being able to do
the hard things demanded of a team captain."
