Melissa Barton named captain

Senior Melissa Barton (Simsbury, CT) has been leading the way this fall for the Eph team on the course this fall, as she has done throughout her career and co-caches Kris Herman and Fran Vandermeer have appointed Barton the team captain.

"Melissa has probably been our most consistent player this fall and what I love about her is that she is a good mentor to the younger players with her steady demeanor and approach to the game," noted coach Herman. This fall Barton logged the lowest round by a Division III player at Dartmouth with a 77 on day one and fired a second day 79 at Mt. Holyoke.

"Without a doubt she's our team leader," said Herman.  "Being a captain is an important and demanding job and there is much to do to on and off the course.  Coach Vandermeer and I look forward to continuing to work with Melissa to grow the women's golf program at Williams.  On the course she has been a great player for four years, but more importantly she's grown into being able to do the hard things demanded of a team captain."
